My not so weakend

So last week ended up turning out to be awesome for me.  Last monday my google summer of code mid-term review was due and I ended up passing (phew!).  So far my project has been going really well, and my mentor, Jeff Eaton, is an awesome guy, it's great to work with someone who's so intelligent and such a big part of the Drupal community.  So since I passed I decided to celebrate a bit, I ended up going to the Sounds of the Underground tour thursday which ended up being awesome, probably the best concert I have been to in a long time.  Then that thursday night since I was in Detroit I drove down to hang out with my old buddy John B. (a.k.a. Johnny Ketchup <- he used to put ketchup on everything). He was my good buddy from my stint at Ferris State University and he was my inspiration to play guitar.  He actually gave me my first guitar, so it was good to see him again and do some catching up.  Then the next day consisted of driving up to grand rapids to attend Barcamp. Reading that name you would probably assume it's a camp for bartenders or something, but it actually stands for (foo)barcamp.  Basically foobar is a term tossed around the programming community.  So basically it was nerdcamp, but I actually thought it was awesome. It was friday and saturday night. After it was done on friday I went and hung out with my cousin who lives in grand rapids who I don't get to see very often. Then went back all the next day to just nerd out and talking about computers and technology with a bunch of people.  It was also sponsored by google and I got to meet and talk to a network engineer and a technical recruiter from the phoenix, arizona office. They were actually really cool and I think I may contact them about possibly getting a barcamp going up at Michigan Tech this fall.  I also got to meet another guy who is a big part of the Drupal community (creator of the CCK module) and wrote the first jQuery (code library I am using with my project) book.  So they answered quite a few questions for me and ended up hooking me up a book. Then after barcamp was done on saturday I ended up going back over to Lansing and hanging out at Amy's and Sarah's house for a slip n' slide/bonfire party they had which was fun as well.

So basically when I said this would be a "Summer of Awesome" it pretty much has been already, I have been on the go non-stop and have never been bored. I also am pretty sure I will be going to Colorado for about 5 days the 2nd week of August I'm pretty excited about.
